Note to self: If one is writing a Doctor Who crossover fic, worrying about whether there's a plausible scientific explanation for a story event means that one is missing the point.

(Although the other fandom in the crossover is one that does pretty well on scientific plausibility, according to a former acquaintance who was a specialist in the field. Still, once you insert a TARDIS, anything goes.)
