Jan 15: If you could pick a new first name, what would you choose? Fifteen years ago it would've been Alana; I used that as a handle in several online communities. These days, I'm fine with my actual first name, but if I were to change it, I'd change it to Fisher.

Jan 16: What is your favorite board game? Encore, a sadly out of print game where you get a word and each player has to sing (or recite, if tone-deaf) a part of a song that has that word.

Jan 17: What self-care things do you find helpful to ground yourself or “talk yourself down from the ledge” when you’re overwhelmed by your feelings or by stress? While driving, I've made a point of hanging my arm out the driver's window when the road's peaceful; I now do it as a signal to relax a bit. Otherwise, long walks; around the 45-minute mark the stress starts to dissipate.

Jan 18: What is the most extreme weather you have ever experienced? Directly being out in it -- a temperature drop from 80F/26C to 50F/10C over the course of a walk. From the shelter of indoors -- a tropical storm.

Jan 19: Do you operate out of any particular faith system that informs your actions? Do you intentionally NOT have a faith system, and if so, what beliefs or ideas inform your actions? I'm an agnostic theist; I believe in $DEITY but have no evidence for it. I'm not a member of a faith community. I was reared in the more liberal side of the Lutheran church and still consider myself culturally Christian; while I don't describe my religious beliefs as Christian, I occasionally suspect that I'm being like the women who say "I believe in equal legal, social, and political rights for women, but I'm not a feminist." I retain a few solitary practices from when I was exploring neopaganism in my 20s. The beliefs that inform my actions: "That which is hateful to you, do not unto others"; "in four billion years the earth is going to be melted into the sun anyway, so all is vanity"; "don't be casually obstructive".

Jan 20: When you go to a fancy coffee shop, what’s your go-to order? Decaf latte.

Jan 21: What genre of books is your usual favorite when you read for pleasure? Really depends on my mood. Some weeks I'm going through the SFF category on my handheld; some weeks it's the romance; some weeks it's mystery; some weeks it's sundry nonfiction topics; some weeks it's fanfic.
