castiron: Hold still when I subject you to my opinion. (opinionation)
Mar 18: When you close your eyes what do you physically see? Depends what I was looking at before I closed my eyes. If I was looking at a high light/dark contrast or something backlit, I see an afterimage. Otherwise, black if the room's dark; gray-red if there's a light on.

Mar 19: What is your least favorite household chore? It used to be dishes, but over the years, I've found that what makes a task my least favorite is whether I have to play Tetris with all the crap we have in this house to do it. Make it really easy to do a chore, and I'll do it reasonably cheerfully. Raise the coefficient of static friction enough, and I nope out.

Mar 20: Houseplants – yea or nay? In theory yea; in practice, given few suitable windows and many years of cats and small children, I don't have any. (Except that as of the 23rd, I do -- I brought home my office African Violet. We'll see if it survives.)

Mar 21: What is one thing you did this week that moved you closer to one of your goals? I got a short writing stint in, but with everything shut down, that's probably the last chance I'll have for weeks. While overall my shelter-in-place situation is good, the most difficult thing for me to cope with is that all my places I went to work in peace and quiet are now inaccessible, and the quiet and uninterrupted time I can get at home has to go toward my day job.

Mar 22: If you could make a bouquet or arrangement of your three favorite flowers, which three would you choose? Assuming magic is involved so they don't wilt after twenty minutes: bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis), pink evening primrose (Oenothera speciosa), and cornflowers (Centaurea cyanus).

Mar 23: What was a favorite book you read when you were a child? Jennie Lindquist's The Golden Name Day. This series is my go-to example of why copyright length is borked. These books were published between 1955 and 1966. The author died in 1977. So under current copyright law, these books that were published well before I was born are extremely unlikely to go into the public domain during my lifetime. And none of the author's heirs are interested in bringing them back into print. It's a wonderful series, and I can't buy copies for the kids I know because it's terminally OP and used copies go for $75+. (Actually, technically The Golden Name Day's text may be PD; it was published in the time period where copyright renewal was required to keep something under copyright, and while the Garth Williams illustrations were renewed, the book itself wasn't. I keep debating whether to risk putting it online myself.)

Mar 24: About how many square feet is your home? Is it too small, too large, or just right for your needs? 1300. It's a titch small for the number of people in it now, but will be the right size in ten years if the kids end up living elsewhere.
