Yeah, driving would take two days each way, which would be fine if there were other relatives we wanted to stop and visit en route, but as it is, I'd rather deal with airport security and be done with the whole thing in 4-6 hours.
My ex-husband is Belgian, and the first time I visited his family, there was a lot of mutual boggling over distances. Me: "This entire huge extended family is within a two-hours' drive of each other??" Them: "Your parents live how far away? You poor thing!"
