Randall Munroe, How To: Absurd Scientific Advice for Common Real-World Problems. The one problem I had with this book is that I couldn't read it when cackles of laughter would wake the kids. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am now looking at the orc armies in Peter Jackson films in a new way.

Currently reading: Gretchen McCulloch, Because Internet: Understsanding the New Rules of Language. A linguist's take on written language use online. So far it's an engaging read.

I went and looked at that How to: before and it was pretty funny. I liked the line about how non-judgemental physics is, in the swimming pool section.
