the 2021 daily meme, week 14
Apr. 11th, 2021 09:42 amApril 2. Do you listen to any podcasts? I used to, but I stopped about a year and a half ago, switching to music or silence on my commute. Some of it was because I would feel inadequate or depressed after listening to many of them (here's all these people accomplishing big! cool! things! and I'm barely managing to keep it together enough to stay employed and not entirely neglect my family); some of it was that my brain just wanted music instead.
3. Favorite fast food chain? Schlotzsky's.
4. What are your goals for the next year? I gave up on goals a long time ago. I have too hard a time picking only one thing that I want to put most of my energies into, and if I do, invariably there'll be something that comes up that I feel I have to put my energies into instead, or I'll decide a few months in that I don't want the goal enough to put the work into it. Also, we're still in a pandemic. I can't get the alone time that I need to work on many goals, and I won't be able to for some time yet. And things are changing so fast that it's hard to figure out what'll be a realistic goal and what won't be.
Okay, it's not that I've entirely given up on goals. But I keep them very short-term -- work on this project every day for a month; clean this part of my room by the end of the weekend, etc.
5. What was your first pet? Fluffy, a dog.
6. Have you ever been lost in your own neighborhood? If we count neighborhood as "within a few miles of my home", once I took the wrong turn on a street, but once I crossed a major street I was able to reorient myself.
7. Do you like any board games or card games? Just Desserts is quite fun, and the deck-building games Harry Potter: Battle for Hogwarts and Legendary: Marvel Avengers have grown on me.
8. What is the last thing you watched on TV? On broadcast television, probably a smidge of a movie on Svengoolie. On the television object, a smidge of the DW episode "Family of Blood."
