the 2021 daily meme, week 27
Jul. 8th, 2021 02:41 pmJuly 2. What was the last thing you bought used? Huh, given that I haven't been in a secondhand store in over a year, I'd have to say it's my computer -- it's not exactly used, but it's a refurb.
3. Has anyone ever told you that you're getting too competitive over minor things? Only insecure guys who couldn't cope.
4. What was the first thing you ever saved up to buy with your own money? A bicycle. (Which I then ended up not using much.)
5. After high school – straight to college or straight to work? College.
6. If I looked in your fridge right now, what would I find? Food. A pitcher of decaf tea. Lots of containers of leftovers. Random sauces that Spouse likes and I never use.
7. If you had to move to a new city, where would you move? Depends. Am I looking for a city where I can find a job, or a city where I can afford to live on my retirement savings, or have I won the lottery? If I need a job, I'm going to look for a college town with a university press, unless I can figure out something else I could earn a living from without having to get new qualifications first. If I'm retiring to somewhere, I'd look for something outside the Bible Belt and near good medical facilities but still small and cheap; I'd probably be stuck somewhere with winter. If I've won the lottery and anything goes, I'd move to the city on the east coast where much of my mother's family comes from, so I could happily do genealogical research. It's close enough to the city where I lived as a child that the landscape is nostalgic too.
8. What did your parents do when you were growing up? Mom was a stay-at-home mother; Dad was an engineer.
