What I originally planned to do Wednesday: send some sample files to a vendor, spot-check some recently converted epubs, and continue trouble-shooting the new upload process for a large ebook retailer.

What I did instead: give birth.  6 lbs 3 oz / 2.8 kg; about 19 inches/48 cm.

Once again, it was a case of "go to work in the morning; notice contractions; go home; go to birthing center; kid's out before end of workday".  Much faster than with #2, though; when I left at 11, I suspected these might be the real thing rather than the Braxton-Hicks I'd been having for a week, but I wasn't quite certain.  Timing them at home made it clear that yep, it was the real thing, and I'd better head for the birthing center as soon as spouse got home.

I had just enough time to call people to pick the older kids up and call schools to let them know before contractions got intense; the friend who was taking middle son arrived to get his things and stayed until spouse finally got home.  By the time we left for the birthing center, I was almost certainly well into transition; when we arrived and got me into the room, the midwife checked, found that I was fully dilated, and said I could start pushing.

And at 2:22 p.m., he was out.  The cord was wrapped around his neck, but the midwife was able to slip it off easily when his head emerged, and he seems overall fine.  His head wasn't quite tucked to present the smallest cross-section, and the scar tissue from previous tears wasn't stretching well, so I did end up with a small episiotomy and stitches; it's not too uncomfortable, though.

We're all settling in, and big brothers are adapting, and everyone's doing well so far.
