1. Did you have a cell phone prior to your thirties? Nope.

2. Did they exist? Yes, but they were out of my price range.

3. Did you have cable when you were a little kid? When did you first get cable? My parents had cable when I was around 11-12. I've never had cable as an adult except when I lived in an apartment complex where it was included.

4. Do you know what 8-track tapes are? Yep. Never owned one, but I remember them being an option in music clubs.

5. How about cassette tapes? Still have a few that I need to convert to MP3.

6. Did you own cassette tapes and walkman or tape player in high school and college? Yep.

7. When did you get your first DVD player? I honestly can't remember. Sometime between when I graduated college and when my first husband and I divorced. (No VHS questions?)

8. Did you learn to type on a typewriter? Did you own a typewriter growing up? Yes and yes; an electric typewriter was my big Christmas present when I was eleven. I typed plenty of term papers and bad novels on it.

9. What was the first computer you owned? Me personally -- a PC 8088. My family -- I think Dad had a CP/M machine early on, but the first one we kids got to use was the Commodore 64.

10. What age were you when you first got e-mail? When I started college.

11. What age were you when you first encountered the internet? Was the Internet around when you were a kid? The Internet was technically around when I was a kid, but I wasn't aware of it until I got to college.

12. What age were you when Facebook, Twitter, Livejournal, and Dreamwidth started? You know, I could just put my birth year and a Google link and let everyone do the math.... I don't remember when I was first on LJ and don't want to mess with my old account in order to find out, but I'm guessing 2005 or earlier. I started on Facebook around 2010, I think; Twitter around the same time. Dreamwidth -- 2009. (DW is the only one of these that I'm at all active on anymore.)

13. What was your first cell phone? How old were you when you got it? Do you even own one? My first cell was a flip phone, probably purchased between 2008 and 2012. My current phone is either that same phone or a replacement; I can't remember which. I use it extremely rarely.

14. Have you ever owned a smartphone? No, though I have an iPod Touch, which is like having the smartphone without the phone part or the always-connected part.

15. What was the first printer you owned like? Dot-matrix.

16. Collegiate papers: typewriter or computer? Honestly, can't remember. Probably some of both.

17. How old were you when streaming came into being? Adult.

18. What age were you when you got your first MP3 player? Adult. If we count my Handspring Visor as an MP3 player, it'd have been around 2000 or so.

19. Did you own a record player, cassette player, CD player, or MP3 player as a teen? Yes to the first two. The third was out of our price range at the time; the fourth didn't exist.

20. At what age did you start blogging on the Internet? Actual blogging, or just posting? I'm sure that if you go through USENET archives you can find posts of mine from college. I started my personal blog in 2002, though it's been a few years since I posted anything there.

21. What age were you when the e-readers came out? Adult. I loved the idea of e-readers, but I've found that I do most of my ebook reading on my iPod Touch; it's with me all the time anyway rather than being an extra device to carry.

22. How do you listen to music? On what devices? Laptop and iPod. Usually MP3s rather than streaming; I'll go on Spotify when I'm in the mood to find something new, but when it comes to the stuff I want to listen to regularly, I don't want to depend on an internet connection being up.
