Things I have not done so far during shelter-in-place/lockdown/generally being stuck at home:
1. made a sourdough starter
2. taken up a new hobby
3. finished any of my old knitting/crochet/weaving/cross-stitch projects1
4. watched the entirety of any streaming musical or play
5. watched more than 20 minutes of any of the videos available online from my library
6. read any of the physical TBR stack2
7. cleaned or organized my house to a state better than it was pre-COVID-193
8. sewn a mask4
9. given myself a haircut5
10. learned a new musical instrument
11. done pretty much any new! exciting! at-home activity with the offspring
1 Though one I might still finish, depending on how many more weeks I'm working at home.
2 I did manage to read a couple of new ebooks and fanfics, but mostly I'm sticking to Nth rereads.
3 No, I take that back; I did finally clean the microwave.
4 Spouse is doing all our mask-sewing.
5 Though this isn't saying much, since the last time I cut my hair other than a little end-trimming was about seven years ago, and the last time I had a professional haircut was 1984.

Date: 2020-05-03 08:40 pm (UTC)But I have started my physical TBR pile. Which I have to admit is a good thing. And this is because I can't get distracted by books from the library, so the pile is going down quicker than otherwise - also I'm not buying books (apart from a couple of cross stitch books which don't count for the TBR pile).

Date: 2020-05-04 02:34 pm (UTC)The idea that someone would start something new (a new hobby) right now isn't my mentality. I mean, I suppose if there was something you really wanted to try and had all the supplies before all the shops closed, and you were out of work and had time but still able to maintain yourself so minimal anxiety then it'd be great but that seems like a singular concatenation of circumstance.
I found my masks in old emergency kits and had my sister who's a vet send me a few surgical masks. But facing the prospect of making them daunted me.
I have watched Treasure Island and Frankenstein from National Theatre Live and we've watched all the Cirque du Soleil videos (my kids love them).
I have made some headway at my TBR pile!
I think my aspirations for myself and this time far outstrip reality. If I knew how to lower the bar, that'd probably be healthy.
