Jun 3: What’s your favorite cake (or not-cake) for your birthday? My preferred birthday cake is Whole Foods's basic white cake with buttercream frosting (though since they were bought by Amazon, I think they've changed the recipe a bit, because it's not as good). The dessert that really makes it my birthday used to be the Chocolate Silk Pie at a local restaurant (and the Proper Birthday Meal their mushroom crepes), but that restaurant closed a couple years ago; now I go to a restaurant with an amazing chocolate mousse dessert (which I hope will still be open by my next birthday).
Jun 4: What item of clothing is your least favorite to shop for? Trousers. I'm short and fat, and I insist on reasonable pockets, which limits my options.
Jun 5: If you had only one window to look out of for the next six months, what would you want to see out that window? A really expansive view, with lots of trees and wildflowers and hills.
Jun 6: Is there something you love to eat that no one else in your family likes? Not that I've found; everything I like, either Spouse or at least one of my kids also likes.
Jun 7: Do you prefer shopping online or in a store? Depends what I'm shopping for and where the store is. I love browsing in a store, but I rarely bother going to anything other than a grocery store unless it's en route to somewhere else I'm going.
Jun 8: What do you like least about living in your city/town? The allergens, followed closely by the rapid increase in housing expenses over the past several years that may make it impossible for me to afford to stay here even though I own my house.
Jun 9: What do you like most about living in your city/town? The huge variety of things to do. I've taken classes in so many crafts, at least five different kinds of dance, and now improv. I don't take much advantage of the nightlife, first due to small children and now due to being middle-aged and tired, but I'm glad it's there. I love the strange shops and the different festivals and the cultural centers.
...and between the rising property taxes and now the global pandemic, I don't know how much of that is still going to be around in a few years. And if I have to stay at home most of the time anyway, does it matter whether I'm in an interesting city or in a boring place with good internet?
