Nov 18: When did you last sing to yourself? to someone else? Myself -- today. Someone else -- not recently; my kids hate it when I sing.

Nov 19: If you could have free, unlimited service for five years from an extremely good cook, chauffeur, housekeeper, masseuse, or personal trainer, which would you choose? Housekeeper!

Nov 20: Does the fact that you have never done something before increase or decrease its appeal to you? Depends on my mood, what the something is, and what the other options are. If I go to a restaurant I've been to regularly, and I have a favorite dish there, I'm unlikely to try something I haven't had before because I already know I'm going to get something really good and I'm not interested in risking that. I'm more likely to reread a favorite old novel than a brand new novel by an author I'm unfamiliar with. But I'll take five minutes to listen to a song by a band I'm not familiar with -- if I hate it, I'm out five minutes that I was probably also spending knitting. On the other hand, if I'm feeling stale, flat, and unprofitable, then I'm more likely to pick an unfamiliar thing to shake myself up a bit.

Overall, if I've already got options that are really enjoyable and the unfamiliar activity doesn't make my antennae perk up, then I'll stick with the enjoyable thing I've done before. But if the familiar options are all meh, or if the unfamiliar one sounds appealing, I'll try the unfamiliar one.

Nov 21: Would it disturb you much if, upon your death, your body were simply thrown into the woods and left to rot? Why? Nope; in fact, there's a body farm not far from where I live, and I'm seriously considering that as the way to dispose of my future corpse, since "let me rot for a few days and then lay me out at a vulture sanctuary" isn't a feasible option. As a genealogist I love cemeteries, but as a cheapskate I'm fine with being eaten by scavengers.

Nov 22: If you were to become famous, what would you be famous for? I would like to be famous for writing fun novels or for having some performance that makes people happy they saw it.

Nov 23: Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Very rarely, and nothing beyond the opening statement. If I try to rehearse too much, invariably the other person doesn't say what I expected and I'm more thrown off than if I were approaching the conversation from scratch.

Nov 24: Do you establish routines in your life? For example, do you usually sleep in the same place in your bed? eat meals at the same time? regularly return to the same vacation spot? Often. (Vacation spot? What's that? You mean people travel places that aren't just where other family members live?)
