Dec 2: If you were a toy, what would you be? Speak-and-spell.
Dec 3: What’s your current weather situation, and how is it affecting your day? It finally got cold here, and I'm bundled up and shivering.
Dec 4: What was the last live performance or concert you attended? A local improv group, back in March before Covid.
Dec 5: What is the most offensive thing a person could say to you? Anything that indicates they don't respect my intelligence or trust my competence in an area that yes, I actually am competent in.
Dec 6: Do you take compliments or praise well? So-so. If they're complimenting something that I agree I'm good at, I'm pretty good about saying thanks. If they're complimenting something that I think I suck at, it's another story; I'll still politely say "thanks", but inside I'll be going "yeah, right, you're just saying that to be polite". (Though if the person complimenting me is someone who I think is great at the thing they're complimenting me for, I'm more likely to believe that maybe I'm underestimating my abilities.)
I also find that the more specific the compliment, the more likely I am to think it's sincere. "You're a really good writer" -- yeah, you're just being polite. "I really like how you presented the characters in this story; you made me believe that this character would do this thing" -- now I think you really did like it.
Dec 7: Who was your first teeny-bopper celebrity crush? Did you have posters on your wall? Did you ever see them in concert or meet them in person? (Pictures, please! Gotta have that pin-up poster on the wall.) I didn't really have a celebrity crush as a teen. Someone gave me a poster of Andy Gibb, but I wasn't into him and can't remember if I even hung up the poster. (Though one summer at music camp my roommate and I were so impressed by a concert by Andre-Michel Schub that we picked up all the leftover flyers and taped them in a border around our room. That was more musical admiration than crush, though.) I didn't really have my first real celebrity crush until I was an adult -- saw a magazine cover with a photo of Ken Burns and went !!!!!!
Dec 8: What is your morning routine like? Wake up. Lie in bed wishing I could fall back asleep. Finally reach the point where I have enough energy to get up. Shower and dress. Pour some tea, eat breakfast, and go to work.
